On September 18 2003, the Foundation co-sponsored the break Depression fast Parliamentary Breakfast with the Mental Health Council of Australia, and beyondblue: the national depression initiative.

The breakfast was hosted by Senator Coonan, and was an opportunity to inform those MPs and Senators in attendance of the impact of depression in our communities, and of those initiatives which make a real difference to those one in five Australians in any one year who suffer from a common mental disorder. The breakfast aimed to form a national bi-partisan caucus focused on mental health issues.

Geraldine Doogue was Master of Ceremonies, and Prof. Ian Hickie (beyondblue), Dr Grace Groom (Mental Health Council of Australia) and Prof. Tony Jorm (Centre for Mental Health Research) addressed the breakfast.
