On 26 November 2003, the Foundation EO gave a keynote address at an Employers' Making A Difference Business Briefing, supported by the Australian Federal Police.

Kylie outlined the prevalence and nature of mental health problems affecting nearly 1 in 5 Australian adults in any one year, and explained the impact that these problems can have on the workplace, at both individual and organisational levels.

The briefing included information about how business leaders and HR managers can overcome the challenges that mental health problems pose by increasing the mental health literacy of their staff and themselves, and promoting self-help resources for the treatment and prevention of depression and anxiety.

Kylie also emphasised the great need for increased research into these disorders, and pointed to the workplace as an ideal setting for implementing public health approaches which support the mental health of Australians.
